What Is Class Wallet

Class Wallet is a program that allocates budgets, stipends, grants, and vouchers online. Organizations configure the spending tools that are best suited to their needs. It includes expenditure tracking in a single, paperless platform. Users shop online and check out without a credit card, submit receipts, pay for goods and services, collect and reconcile receipts, and integrates with any accounting software.

It’s a purchasing platform used by 63,000 classrooms across 2,000 schools, nonprofits, state government and scholarship granting agencies. Also, it is SOC-certified, which means it is audited by an independent CPA and has the appropriate safeguards and procedures in place.

Mountain View, Miami-Dade, Martin County, Conecuh County, Birmingham, Park City, and Mobile County public school districts use the program. The link above will take you to information on them. I imagine there are other similar budget/spending programs that organizations use; please let me know about them in the comments below. I’d like to know about the others.

Class Wallet Vendors

The Class Wallet Vendors include Blick Art Materials, Classroom Direct, Frey Scientific, Home Depot, Office Depot, Staples, and many more. Initially, I was working with the Director of Community Preparedness Programs at North American Rescue, Chris Hoyne to make sure their quality supplies were available on Class Wallet. I discovered that I could access their supplies through one of the already-approved vendors, School Specialty, so that was a relief. Here’s my NAR School Resource Officer Kit video.

Why All Workplaces Need Bleeding Control Kits

With the threat of an active shooter arriving at your workplace, you are “the help until the help arrives.” Also, you know that means EMT’s will not be at your door before the building has been cleared. This could be at least ten minutes, if not more.

With only three to four minutes to stop bleeding, you need to have supplies in your own office. If your county has an online site for using your supply money, consider at the very least, getting at least one bleeding control kit each year.

Then, give yourself the gift of some advanced first aid bleeding control training.

If you have unspent supply money – equip your office, and your neighbors’, for bleeding control. You can order a first aid kit designed specifically for stopping bleeding for one person from Class Wallet.

Preparation Interest Must Increase

This article shows you how to order from Class Wallet, however, wherever your supply money is kept; you are going to find it easier and easier to order first aid supplies with your supply money as interest in being prepared increases. You aren’t even going to have any trouble fitting them under the “consumables” category since they actually are classified thus.

With my supervisor’s permission, last month I sent out an email plea to my co-workers in the last days of spending our supply money – please use just $60 of your supply money for one bleeding control kit, I urged. Buy a few more at the beginning of the next school year.

No one responded.

Maybe everyone already had spent all their money. Another co-worker, a teacher, emailed everyone that one of her students was working on a project that required hundreds of colored pencils, and if we had leftover money, could we help out. One teacher emailed to ask if I still needed colored pencils for my student.

No. I don’t want you to buy colored pencils with your supply money. I’m the high school teacher who wants you to buy a Blow Out Kit // Office Stop the Bleed Kit no matter where you work. And get training.

Here’s How To Order From Class Wallet:

In the search bar at the top, type North American Rescue, then sort by Price – Low to High.

Anything from the $53 kit on up is probably more than you have in your class now. Then, please get some training beyond basic First Aid.  The $53 kit is good quality – however, if you want to plan for four to five sets of gear, you don’t really need four or five sets of safety scissors and gloves. The kit below is the $63 kit that contains chest seals. The $53 kit is exactly the same, minus the chest seals.

For about $10 more, you can have the same kit but in a nylon pouch. It’s not sealed, so might not be your first choice if choosing between it and the sealed kit below if you are not planning to add to it anyway. There are several other kits available on Class Wallet from NAR; you just have to compare the item lists for comparison.

There are two kits that look similar to the sealed kit below. They are over $100, and the difference seems to be the inclusion of a different kind of gauze. I’d rather have more tourniquets for my money.

Here’s what you will see on Class Wallet. As the price increases, the number of items in the kits increase.

How to Order a Rescue SRO Crisis Response Kit from Class Wallet

Once on Class Wallet, look for the vendor named School Specialty Select. It has a blue and green logo with a cartoon person with arms outstretched.
In the search bar at the top, type North American Rescue, then sort by Price – High to Low.

I found the kit I ordered for under $300. Although I possibly could have assembled all the individual items in it less expensively by purchasing them directly from North American Rescue – you know how this goes.

You can walk into an office supply store and purchase a stapler for $5, but on your approved site for spending your supply money, it will cost you $10. That is the cost of doing business with the company organizing all the purchasing. This is what you will see:

On the website, my North American Rescue Combat Casualty Response Kit is sold under the name “SRO Crisis Response Kit.” SRO stands for School Resource Officer, but anyone can use the kit. At the link above, you can access its features, description, specs – a full list of the contents – and under “downloads,” there is a full product information sheet with graphics of all the contents.

Affordable, quality products, but not available on Class Wallet. This link and using my code “KimW” at MyMedic will save you 10%, and I earn a small percentage for stocking my own kits, but your price does not increase.

Links to Training

North American Rescue video training – warning – it’s rather graphic, but it’s what you really need to see.

Crisis Medicine – excellent training. History buffs and anyone who appreciates the backstory of whatever they are studying will appreciate the precise attention to detail. Also very graphic, and also what will serve you well to experience. Dr. Shertz from Crisis Medicine says the first time you see blood shouldn’t be when you have a loved one or student in front of you. Please use my link above and my code “DeepWH” for 20% off the Tactical Casualty Care TC2 online course.

Stop The Bleed Department of Homeland Security – The first course is very light. The second class is more in-depth, and the third class is not online, but in person.

There are other online courses, and tons more reference materials and videos online. If anyone comes across any that we can use for certification points; please let us all know. I do plan to submit my Crisis Medicine certificate to my own school district and see if I qualify for any of those hours spent taking the class as CEU’s – continuing education units for recertification purposes.
