The Gipsy Kings actually were all born in France. They began a band in the 1970’s in Southern France as a gypsy band, travelling around France. They are still travelling, and took on the “gypsy” along with “reyes,” the surname of one of the original members, which means “king” in Spanish, thus – Gipsy Kings.

The St. Augustine Amphitheater is a rather intimate venue – limited to 4,092 guests, so you never feel crowded. There are free shuttles to the amphitheater, on-site parking for a charge, and plenty of food and drink vendors and space under tents beneath the scrub oaks to enjoy a moment before an event. It’s open-air, but with a huge tent to keep you dry if it sprinkles, so, you enjoy the sea breezes coming off the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, less than a mile away.
